The purpose

People may know something feels out of control long before they know clinical terminology. This site uses familiar words such as gooning, edging and porn addiction as entry points without treating slang as a diagnosis.

The goal is early, proportionate help: clearer self-observation, safer physical choices, better conversations and qualified care when needed.

The approach

Masturbation, sexual pleasure and pornography are not automatically pathological. We focus on agency, consent, control, consequences and compatibility with the life a person wants.

We avoid shame, purity culture, forced abstinence, fake-news framing and unsupported neuroscience claims.

What this site is not

Gooners.ca does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, crisis counselling or individualized treatment. A visible review date shows when a page was last checked; it does not imply review by a clinician unless a named credentialed reviewer is explicitly listed.

Accountability

The research and editorial pages explain how sources are selected, what uncertainty remains and how content should be corrected. Resource availability changes, so users should confirm services directly.
